The Distance
Five minutes to the gate.
Estes Park is the eastern gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, and the lodge is about as close to the Beaver Meadows entrance as a home gets: five minutes down the ridge and you're at the station. Most rentals put you fifteen or twenty minutes out and down in the valley. Here you start above it all.

The Strategy
Beat the line, beat the crowds.
In peak season, roughly late May through mid-October, most of the park requires a timed-entry permit from recreation.gov. Reserve it before your trip. Being five minutes out is the whole advantage: take the earliest entry window, be at Bear Lake before the lots fill, and be back on the deck for a late breakfast while everyone else is still circling for parking.
